Artwork guidelines

Send vector artwork (.ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg) with type converted to outlines, or a raster file at 300 dpi at the finished imprint size. If all you have is a logo from your website, send it anyway: a straightforward redraw is free, and the proof shows exactly what will be produced before you approve it.

What artwork reproduces best?

  • Vector files (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg). Scale to any size with no quality loss. Always our first ask.
  • High-resolution raster, 300 dpi or better at the finished imprint size, transparent or white background.
  • Type converted to outlines so fonts cannot substitute in production.
  • Pantone (PMS) references for any color that has to match exactly.

If all you have is a logo from your website

Send it anyway. A 200-pixel PNG pulled off a homepage will not hold up at 3 inches, but we will tell you that honestly rather than printing it badly, and we will redraw it as clean vector art. There is no charge for a straightforward redraw.

Single-color versus full-color

Laser engraving, sand carving and debossing are single-color processes. The mark is the color of the material underneath. If your logo depends on color to be recognizable, choose a UV printed or sublimated product instead. We will flag this on the proof rather than letting you discover it on delivery.

Fine detail

Strokes thinner than 0.5 pt and type below 6 pt do not survive most decoration processes. We simplify where necessary and show you exactly what we changed.

What do buyers ask about artwork guidelines?

What file format is best for a logo?

Vector: .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg, with all type converted to outlines so fonts cannot substitute in production. Vector scales to any imprint size without losing quality, which is why it is always our first ask. Failing that, a raster file at 300 dpi or better at the finished size, on a transparent or white background, also works.

Do you charge to redraw a logo?

Not for a straightforward redraw. A 200-pixel PNG pulled off a homepage will not hold up at 3 inches, so rather than produce it badly we redraw it as clean vector art and show you the result on the free digital proof. Nothing is produced until you approve that proof in writing, so you see exactly what changed.

Can a laser engrave a color logo?

No. Laser engraving gives a single color: single color: the natural color of the material under the surface. Sand carving and debossing are single-color processes too. If your logo depends on color to be recognizable, choose a UV printed or sublimated product instead, which gives full-color, photographic-quality artwork with hard edges and no dot gain. We flag this on the proof rather than letting you discover it on delivery.

How small can text be on an engraved product?

Keep type at 6 pt or larger and strokes at 0.5 pt or thicker. Finer detail than that does not survive most decoration processes, from laser engraving to debossing. Where your artwork goes below those limits we simplify it and show you exactly what we changed on the proof, before anything is produced.
