What is the 14" x 17" American Walnut Frame with Arched Top and Bottom-Frame Only, Backing not Included?

Item ZX1487 is a plaque in walnut, chosen for how well it takes a mark and how long that mark lasts. It measures 14" (L) x 17" (H).

Walnut is the darkest of the common domestic hardwoods, which gives engraving somewhere to sit. Grain varies piece to piece. An argument for it, not against it, on an award meant to feel individual.

Wall-mounted recognition stays visible to everyone who walks past, not just the recipient. On this substrate specifically: laser engraving produces a near-black mark against the walnut, one of the highest-contrast wood results available.

A centerpiece rather than a program. Budget it as an event cost, because that is what it is, and expect it to be photographed. Concretely: $238.50 each at 1-11, $147.87 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 10 in x 10 in.

Laser Engraving

A focused laser removes the surface layer to expose the substrate beneath. A permanent, high-contrast, single-color mark with no ink involved.

Best for

Logos, names, dates and fine text. The default choice when the mark has to outlive the campaign.

Color

Single color: the natural color of the material under the surface.

UV Printing

UV-cured ink is jetted directly onto the product and cured instantly under ultraviolet light. Full-color, photographic-quality artwork with hard edges and no dot gain.

Best for

Multi-color logos, gradients, photographs and exact brand-color matching.

Color

Full color, including white ink on dark substrates.

Artwork requirements

  • Outline your fonts before sending. It removes the most common cause of a proof coming back wrong.
  • Type should be converted to curves or outlines, otherwise a missing font silently substitutes on our end.
  • Nothing is produced before you approve a proof in writing. That is a hard rule, not a courtesy.
  • If brand color accuracy matters, give us the Pantone numbers rather than a screenshot to match.
  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.
  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.

Common uses

Service awardsService awards is where this earns its cost, and where buyers re-order it.
Donor recognitionSpecified regularly for donor recognition. The imprint area at 10 in x 10 in is sized for exactly that job.
Sponsor and partner recognitionBuilt for sponsor and partner recognition. That is the use case the format was designed around, not one retrofitted to it.
Sponsorship and partner thanksGiven to the people who funded or enabled the work, in a form they can keep visible.
Service anniversariesFive, ten and twenty years. The object marks the span in a way a announcement never manages.
Safety and quality milestonesMarking a record that took every person on the floor to achieve, with something they can point at.
Event and conference giftingHanded to qualified conversations rather than to everyone, so the spend goes where the pipeline is.
Employee milestonesAnniversaries, promotions and retirements: the moments where a personalized object does what an email cannot.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. Awards are read as a hierarchy whether or not you intended one. If the participation piece and the champion piece look similar, the champion feels short-changed, and that is remembered longer than the result. Bought for the one occasion a year that genuinely earns it.

2

Employee Recognition & Service Awards

Recognition fails when the object does not match the words. Consistency is what makes a recognition program credible. If a ten year award looks better this year than it did last year, everyone who got last year's version notices. Lock the specification and the supplier, and treat the item list as something you change deliberately rather than annually. A centrepiece, not a run. Expect it on display for a decade.

3

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Recognition pieces for major donors and board members are the clearest win: they are relatively few, they are highly personal, and they materially affect renewal. For event merchandise, price the item to sell rather than to give. Minimum order is a single piece, which suits how this segment tends to buy. The piece the room looks at. Price it as an event cost, not merchandise.

4

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Departments buy separately even when the brand is shared, which is how a university ends up with nine versions of its own crest. A single approved item list with locked artwork solves more than any individual purchasing decision will. Wall-mounted recognition stays visible to everyone who walks past, not just the recipient. This is the one people stand next to in the photograph.

5

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Protocol governs the object. Placement of insignia, order of precedence on a plaque and the wording of a commendation are conventions rather than preferences, and getting them wrong is the one error this segment does not overlook. Laser engraving produces a near-black mark against the walnut, one of the highest-contrast wood results available. Reserved for a milestone big enough to justify the line item on its own.

What do buyers ask about ZX1487?

What does it actually cost at quantity?

The published ladder on ZX1487 runs from $238.50 a piece at 1-11 down to $147.87 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

Do you ship to multiple addresses?

Yes, through a quote. Card checkout ships one order to one address, so for a split run send the address list with a quote request and we confirm the freight for every destination in writing before you pay. The artwork is proofed once and applied across the whole run. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

How should this be cared for?

Dust with a dry cloth. Keep out of direct sun and away from radiators. ZX1487 measures 14" (L) x 17" (H) and is made of walnut. Walnut is the darkest of the common domestic hardwoods, which gives engraving somewhere to sit.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

Tell us within 10 days of delivery and we replace it. Note any damage on the freight bill before you sign for it, because that is what the carrier claim turns on. Resolving it with the carrier is our job, not yours. The replacement runs from the artwork you already approved, so it matches the rest of the order.

Can I get a sample before committing?

Yes: order one piece. ZX1487 sells from a single unit at $238.50, the first rung of its published ladder, so a sample is simply a normal order. A decorated single piece goes through the same proof as a full run.

Is there a setup charge?

No. Setup is free on every order at every quantity. Art preparation, machine setup and your digital proof are built into the price, with nothing added for them later. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout.

Do you keep this item in stock?

Yes. The warehouse shows 344 of ZX1487 in stock as of the last hourly sync. If a color is short we say so the day you order rather than the week before the deadline. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

What is the minimum order for ZX1487?

There is no minimum beyond one piece on ZX1487. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The price per piece only goes down as the quantity rises. The published ladder on ZX1487 runs from $238.50 a piece at 1-11 down to $147.87 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.
