What is the 16" x 20" All American Walnut Step-Edge Plaque?

The 16" x 20" All American Walnut Step-Edge Plaque is what most buyers mean when they ask for a plaque that will not look cheap in six months. It measures 16" x 20" x 3/4".

Worth knowing before you order: walnut is the darkest of the common domestic hardwoods, which gives engraving somewhere to sit. Grain varies piece to piece. An argument for it, not against it, on an award meant to feel individual.

Wall-mounted recognition stays visible to everyone who walks past, not just the recipient. Laser engraving produces a near-black mark against the walnut, one of the highest-contrast wood results available. The two together are why this item re-orders.

Flagship recognition. The cost only makes sense against a milestone big enough that people will remember where they were standing. Concretely: $219.75 each at 1-11, $136.25 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 10 in x 10 in.

Laser Engraving

A focused laser removes the surface layer to expose the substrate beneath. A permanent, high-contrast, single-color mark with no ink involved.

Best for

Logos, names, dates and fine text. The default choice when the mark has to outlive the campaign.

Color

Single color: the natural color of the material under the surface.

UV Printing

UV-cured ink is jetted directly onto the product and cured instantly under ultraviolet light. Full-color, photographic-quality artwork with hard edges and no dot gain.

Best for

Multi-color logos, gradients, photographs and exact brand-color matching.

Color

Full color, including white ink on dark substrates.

Artwork requirements

  • Vector files are the safe option. They hold their edges whether the mark runs at an inch or a foot.
  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.
  • Vector artwork (.ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg) reproduces best at every size and is what we ask for first.
  • Nothing is produced before you approve a proof in writing. That is a hard rule, not a courtesy.
  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.
  • Supply Pantone (PMS) references for any color that has to match exactly.

Common uses

Service awardsWorks well for service awards, where the plaque format does what a printed handout cannot.
Donor recognitionSpecified regularly for donor recognition. The imprint area at 10 in x 10 in is sized for exactly that job.
Sponsor and partner recognitionSponsor and partner recognition is where this earns its cost, and where buyers re-order it.
Safety and quality milestonesMarking a record that took every person on the floor to achieve, with something they can point at.
Renewal and retention giftsTimed to the contract date rather than the calendar, which is when the recipient is actually paying attention.
Service anniversariesFive, ten and twenty years. The object marks the span in a way a announcement never manages.
Executive and board giftingShort lists, individual personalization, and a piece that survives scrutiny.
Sponsorship and partner thanksGiven to the people who funded or enabled the work, in a form they can keep visible.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Faith & Community Organizations

Faith communities give to mark moments rather than to advertise. Baptisms, confirmations, ordinations, volunteer milestones and building dedications all call for keepsakes carrying a name and a date. Understated decoration outperforms bold branding almost every time in this segment. The plaque format earns its place here on keep-rate rather than headline price. This is the award people photograph. Budget it as a single line.

2

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. Awards are read as a hierarchy whether or not you intended one. If the participation piece and the champion piece look similar, the champion feels short-changed, and that is remembered longer than the result. $219.75 before breaks: reserved for the moment that warrants it.

3

Employee Recognition & Service Awards

Recognition fails when the object does not match the words. Consistency is what makes a recognition program credible. If a ten year award looks better this year than it did last year, everyone who got last year's version notices. Lock the specification and the supplier, and treat the item list as something you change deliberately rather than annually. Walnut is the darkest of the common domestic hardwoods, which gives engraving somewhere to sit. Bought for the one occasion a year that genuinely earns it.

4

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Recognition pieces for major donors and board members are the clearest win: they are relatively few, they are highly personal, and they materially affect renewal. For event merchandise, price the item to sell rather than to give. A centrepiece, not a run. Expect it on display for a decade.

5

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Departments buy separately even when the brand is shared, which is how a university ends up with nine versions of its own crest. A single approved item list with locked artwork solves more than any individual purchasing decision will. Decoration holds up in this setting, which is where cheaper substrates fail. The piece the room looks at. Price it as an event cost, not merchandise.

What do buyers ask about AMGW11620?

Do you keep this item in stock?

Yes. The warehouse shows 63 of AMGW11620 in stock as of the last hourly sync. If a color is short we say so the day you order rather than the week before the deadline. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

Can I order more later and have them match?

Re-orders reproduce rather than reinterpret. We keep the approved artwork on file against the item number, so a re-order runs from the same file. On natural materials the base itself can shift a little between batches, so tell us if an exact match matters. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

Can I get a sample before committing?

Yes: order one piece. AMGW11620 sells from a single unit at $219.75, the first rung of its published ladder, so a sample is simply a normal order. A decorated single piece goes through the same proof as a full run.

How long does production take?

Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit. The clock starts when you approve the proof, not when you place the order. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

What if the artwork does not fit the imprint area?

The personalization area on AMGW11620 is 10 in x 10 in. If your mark does not sit well in that shape we redraw or re-proportion it and show you the result on the proof before anything is produced. Engraving is charged on the share of the area your artwork covers, so a smaller mark costs less.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

Tell us within 10 days of delivery and we replace it. Note any damage on the freight bill before you sign for it, because that is what the carrier claim turns on. Resolving it with the carrier is our job, not yours. The replacement runs from the artwork you already approved, so it matches the rest of the order.

Is there a setup charge?

There is no setup charge, ever. Art preparation, machine setup and the proof are part of the price on this page. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

What is the minimum order for AMGW11620?

There is no minimum beyond one piece on AMGW11620. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The price per piece only goes down as the quantity rises. The published ladder on AMGW11620 runs from $219.75 a piece at 1-11 down to $136.25 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.
