What is the 26.2 (Marathon) 3-D Medal-Silver?

This is a medal in resin. Straightforward to decorate, and durable enough that the decoration outlasts the occasion. It measures 2". This is the silver colorway.

Casting is what allows shapes, figures, sport-specific sculpts, dimensional forms, that simply cannot be cut from crystal or metal at a comparable price. It is the reason resin dominates youth sport and participation awards.

Decoration is applied to an engraving plate or a printed plate fitted to the base, not to the sculpt itself. Medals scale to hundreds of recipients at a cost per person that no other award form matches.

Treat this as reach inventory. The point of the tier is that you can put one in every hand at an event without the total ever becoming a conversation with finance. Concretely: $4.50 each at 1-11, $2.79 at 500+.

Artwork requirements

  • Nothing is produced before you approve a proof in writing. That is a hard rule, not a courtesy.
  • Do not spend a week hunting for the perfect file. Send what exists and we will tell you what is usable.
  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.
  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.
  • We send a digital proof for written approval before production starts. Nothing goes on a machine until you sign it off.
  • Supply Pantone (PMS) references for any color that has to match exactly.

Common uses

Races and tournamentsSpecified regularly for races and tournaments. The imprint area at 1.2 in x 1 in is sized for exactly that job.
School achievementWorks well for school achievement, where the medal format does what a printed handout cannot.
Participation recognitionBuilt for participation recognition. That is the use case the format was designed around, not one retrofitted to it.
Customer loyalty tiersA physical marker of status that an account dashboard cannot replicate.
Booth and trade show handoutsThe item that gives someone a reason to stop walking, and a reason to remember which booth it came from.
Renewal and retention giftsTimed to the contract date rather than the calendar, which is when the recipient is actually paying attention.
Team and department awardsRecognizing a group without the cost or ceremony of individual crystal for every person.
Recruiting and onboardingIncluded in offer packs and first-day kits, where the object is doing culture work from the very first hour.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. Participation medals for the field, distinct pieces for placegetters, and something with real presence for the overall champion. Production timing is usually the binding constraint, so lock artwork well before the event rather than after the results are known. At $4.50 before breaks it is cheap enough to hand out without counting.

2

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Departments buy separately even when the brand is shared, which is how a university ends up with nine versions of its own crest. A single approved item list with locked artwork solves more than any individual purchasing decision will. The unit cost here is low enough that reach matters more than restraint.

3

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Protocol governs the object. Placement of insignia, order of precedence on a plaque and the wording of a commendation are conventions rather than preferences, and getting them wrong is the one error this segment does not overlook. Minimum order is a single piece, which suits how this segment tends to buy. Order deep. At this price the waste of a few extra is cheaper than running short.

4

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Recognition pieces for major donors and board members are the clearest win: they are relatively few, they are highly personal, and they materially affect renewal. For event merchandise, price the item to sell rather than to give. Medals scale to hundreds of recipients at a cost per person that no other award form matches. Volume is the point at $4.50; nobody is auditing this line item.

What do buyers ask about 3D218S?

Is there a setup charge?

No. Setup is free on every order at every quantity. Art preparation, machine setup and your digital proof are built into the price, with nothing added for them later. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

Tell us within 10 days of delivery and we replace it. Note any damage on the freight bill before you sign for it, because that is what the carrier claim turns on. Resolving it with the carrier is our job, not yours. The replacement runs from the artwork you already approved, so it matches the rest of the order.

Can I order more later and have them match?

Re-orders reproduce rather than reinterpret. We keep the approved artwork on file against the item number, so a re-order runs from the same file. On natural materials the base itself can shift a little between batches, so tell us if an exact match matters. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

What if the artwork does not fit the imprint area?

The personalization area on 3D218S is 1.2 in x 1 in. If your mark does not sit well in that shape we redraw or re-proportion it and show you the result on the proof before anything is produced. Engraving is charged on the share of the area your artwork covers, so a smaller mark costs less.

How is this decorated?

Laser Engraving (plate) is the primary method on 3D218S. The engraving plate is lasered, then fitted to the award. A permanent engraved plate on a cast body. We can also run UV Printing (plate) and Sublimated Plate on this item if the artwork calls for it. The personalization area on 3D218S is 1.2 in x 1 in.

What artwork do you need from me?

Send vector if it exists, raster at 300 dpi if it does not, and whatever you have if neither. The personalization area on 3D218S is 1.2 in x 1 in, and we redraw or re-proportion anything that will not survive it. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing.

How long does production take?

Door to door at standard speed: a day for the proof, 3 to 5 business days in production, then 1 to 5 business days in transit. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

What is the minimum order for 3D218S?
