What is the 5 3/8" x 8 1/8" AirFlyte American Walnut Plaque?

A working plaque. Solid walnut with a deep natural grain and a hand-finished surface. It measures 5 3/8" x 8 1/8".

In practice: walnut is the darkest of the common domestic hardwoods, which gives engraving somewhere to sit. Grain varies piece to piece. An argument for it, not against it, on an award meant to feel individual.

Wall-mounted recognition stays visible to everyone who walks past, not just the recipient. On this substrate specifically: laser engraving produces a near-black mark against the walnut, one of the highest-contrast wood results available.

Above handout territory. The value here is in choosing recipients deliberately, because the object is good enough that the choosing is part of the message. Concretely: $37.35 each at 1-11, $23.16 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 3.88 in x 6.63 in.

Laser Engraving

A focused laser removes the surface layer to expose the substrate beneath. A permanent, high-contrast, single-color mark with no ink involved.

Best for

Logos, names, dates and fine text. The default choice when the mark has to outlive the campaign.

Color

Single color: the natural color of the material under the surface.

UV Printing

UV-cured ink is jetted directly onto the product and cured instantly under ultraviolet light. Full-color, photographic-quality artwork with hard edges and no dot gain.

Best for

Multi-color logos, gradients, photographs and exact brand-color matching.

Color

Full color, including white ink on dark substrates.

Artwork requirements

  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.
  • Outline your fonts before sending. It removes the most common cause of a proof coming back wrong.
  • Convert all type to outlines so fonts do not substitute in production.
  • Type should be converted to curves or outlines, otherwise a missing font silently substitutes on our end.
  • We send a digital proof for written approval before production starts. Nothing goes on a machine until you sign it off.
  • Name the PMS values for anything that has to match a brand standard; screen color is not a reliable reference.

Common uses

Service awardsSpecified regularly for service awards. The imprint area at 3.88 in x 6.63 in is sized for exactly that job.
Donor recognitionWorks well for donor recognition, where the plaque format does what a printed handout cannot.
Sponsor and partner recognitionSpecified regularly for sponsor and partner recognition. The imprint area at 3.88 in x 6.63 in is sized for exactly that job.
Safety and quality milestonesMarking a record that took every person on the floor to achieve, with something they can point at.
Event and conference giftingHanded to qualified conversations rather than to everyone, so the spend goes where the pipeline is.
Client thank-you programsSent after a renewal, a referral or a project close, when the relationship is warm and the gesture will land.
Customer loyalty tiersA physical marker of status that an account dashboard cannot replicate.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Departments buy separately even when the brand is shared, which is how a university ends up with nine versions of its own crest. A single approved item list with locked artwork solves more than any individual purchasing decision will. The plaque format earns its place here on keep-rate rather than headline price. At $37.35 before breaks, name the recipients rather than filling a table.

2

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Protocol governs the object. Placement of insignia, order of precedence on a plaque and the wording of a commendation are conventions rather than preferences, and getting them wrong is the one error this segment does not overlook. This reads as a gift. Give it to people you chose, not people who walked past.

3

Faith & Community Organizations

Faith communities give to mark moments rather than to advertise. Baptisms, confirmations, ordinations, volunteer milestones and building dedications all call for keepsakes carrying a name and a date. Understated decoration outperforms bold branding almost every time in this segment. Walnut is the darkest of the common domestic hardwoods, which gives engraving somewhere to sit. Worth personalising individually at this price; the response rate justifies it.

4

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. Awards are read as a hierarchy whether or not you intended one. If the participation piece and the champion piece look similar, the champion feels short-changed, and that is remembered longer than the result. $37.35 before breaks puts this above hand-out territory. Use it that way.

5

Employee Recognition & Service Awards

Recognition fails when the object does not match the words. Consistency is what makes a recognition program credible. If a ten year award looks better this year than it did last year, everyone who got last year's version notices. Lock the specification and the supplier, and treat the item list as something you change deliberately rather than annually. Decoration holds up in this setting, which is where cheaper substrates fail. Reserve this for the shortlist and the response changes noticeably.

6

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Recognition pieces for major donors and board members are the clearest win: they are relatively few, they are highly personal, and they materially affect renewal. For event merchandise, price the item to sell rather than to give. An imprint area of 3.88 in x 6.63 in is enough for a logo and a line of text without crowding. Personalise it. At this tier a name is what makes it land.

What do buyers ask about ZX1206?

Can you work to a fixed in-hand date?

Yes, and it is the right way to brief us. Tell us the date the box has to be open rather than the date you want it shipped, and checkout works the schedule backwards from there. It refuses a date it cannot keep rather than accepting it and missing it. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

Is there a setup charge?

No. Setup is free on every order at every quantity. Art preparation, machine setup and your digital proof are built into the price, with nothing added for them later. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout.

Can I get a sample before committing?

Yes: order one piece. ZX1206 sells from a single unit at $37.35, the first rung of its published ladder, so a sample is simply a normal order. A decorated single piece goes through the same proof as a full run.
