What is the American Walnut Perpetual Plaque-270 Rotary Engrave Plates 7/8" x 2 3/4"?

American Walnut Perpetual Plaque-270 Rotary Engrave Plates 7/8" x 2 3/4" (P1585): a plaque where Solid walnut with a deep natural grain and a hand-finished surface does most of the work. It measures 28" x 35".

Walnut is the darkest of the common domestic hardwoods, which gives engraving somewhere to sit. Grain varies piece to piece. An argument for it, not against it, on an award meant to feel individual. That is the difference between something kept and something replaced.

Wall-mounted recognition stays visible to everyone who walks past, not just the recipient. On this substrate specifically: laser engraving produces a near-black mark against the walnut, one of the highest-contrast wood results available.

Flagship recognition. The cost only makes sense against a milestone big enough that people will remember where they were standing. Concretely: $2520.00 each at 1-11, $1562.40 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 2 in x 2 in.

Laser Engraving

A focused laser removes the surface layer to expose the substrate beneath. A permanent, high-contrast, single-color mark with no ink involved.

Best for

Logos, names, dates and fine text. The default choice when the mark has to outlive the campaign.

Color

Single color: the natural color of the material under the surface.

UV Printing

UV-cured ink is jetted directly onto the product and cured instantly under ultraviolet light. Full-color, photographic-quality artwork with hard edges and no dot gain.

Best for

Multi-color logos, gradients, photographs and exact brand-color matching.

Color

Full color, including white ink on dark substrates.

Artwork requirements

  • Send the file you have, even if it is imperfect. We will tell you honestly whether it will hold up and redraw it if it will not.
  • Vector files are the safe option. They hold their edges whether the mark runs at an inch or a foot.
  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.
  • Type should be converted to curves or outlines, otherwise a missing font silently substitutes on our end.
  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.
  • Do not spend a week hunting for the perfect file. Send what exists and we will tell you what is usable.

Common uses

Service awardsService awards is where this earns its cost, and where buyers re-order it.
Donor recognitionSpecified regularly for donor recognition. The imprint area at 2 in x 2 in is sized for exactly that job.
Sponsor and partner recognitionBuilt for sponsor and partner recognition. That is the use case the format was designed around, not one retrofitted to it.
Booth and trade show handoutsThe item that gives someone a reason to stop walking, and a reason to remember which booth it came from.
Safety and quality milestonesMarking a record that took every person on the floor to achieve, with something they can point at.
Event and conference giftingHanded to qualified conversations rather than to everyone, so the spend goes where the pipeline is.
Fundraising and donor recognitionThanking the people who gave, in a form that quietly encourages the next person to.
Client thank-you programsSent after a renewal, a referral or a project close, when the relationship is warm and the gesture will land.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Challenge coins, unit recognition, retirement and commendation pieces all carry established conventions. Sourcing compliance and documented lead times usually matter as much as the item itself. Bought for the one occasion a year that genuinely earns it.

2

Faith & Community Organizations

Faith communities give to mark moments rather than to advertise. These pieces are given once and kept for a lifetime, so the failure mode is not looking cheap but dating badly. Restrained typography and no year-specific styling means the piece still reads well in twenty years. Walnut is the darkest of the common domestic hardwoods, which gives engraving somewhere to sit. A centrepiece, not a run. Expect it on display for a decade.

3

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. The order arrives before the results do, which means engraving strategy is the real decision. Generic plates with a separate engraved insert let you produce early and personalize late, and that is usually the difference between hitting the date and missing it. The piece the room looks at. Price it as an event cost, not merchandise.

4

Employee Recognition & Service Awards

Recognition fails when the object does not match the words. If you are marking five or ten years of someone's working life, the piece has to carry weight. Literally and otherwise. Personalization with the individual's name is what converts a company gift into a personal keepsake, and it is the single highest-leverage decision in a recognition program. Decoration holds up in this setting, which is where cheaper substrates fail. This is the one people stand next to in the photograph.

5

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Donors read the gift as a statement about stewardship. Something visibly expensive can cost you more in confidence than it earns in goodwill, which is why restraint and a personal inscription usually outperform scale in this sector. An imprint area of 2 in x 2 in is enough for a logo and a line of text without crowding. Reserved for a milestone big enough to justify the line item on its own.

6

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Student-facing items live rough. They go in backpacks, get left outdoors and are rarely cleaned, so durability matters more than finish. Faculty and donor gifting is the opposite problem and deserves an entirely separate specification. At $2520.00 before breaks this is a once-a-year piece.

What do buyers ask about P1585?

What does it actually cost at quantity?

Most orders land near 48-95, which prices at $2016.00 a piece. The published ladder on P1585 runs from $2520.00 a piece at 1-11 down to $1562.40 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout.

What artwork do you need from me?

Vector artwork is ideal (.ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg) with all type converted to outlines. High-resolution raster at 300 dpi or better also works, and a logo saved from a website is worth sending anyway. We check it against the 2 in x 2 in personalization area and tell you before you pay whether it holds up at that size.

Can I order more later and have them match?

Re-orders reproduce rather than reinterpret. We keep the approved artwork on file against the item number, so a re-order runs from the same file. On natural materials the base itself can shift a little between batches, so tell us if an exact match matters. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

What if the artwork does not fit the imprint area?

The personalization area on P1585 is 2 in x 2 in. If your mark does not sit well in that shape we redraw or re-proportion it and show you the result on the proof before anything is produced. Engraving is charged on the share of the area your artwork covers, so a smaller mark costs less.

Can you work to a fixed in-hand date?

Yes. Give us the in-hand date and checkout tells you immediately whether standard production makes it. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

Can I see a proof before you produce the order?

Always, and we do not start without written approval. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing. Once approved, the proof becomes the specification for the run, so check the spelling and the placement carefully. The personalization area on P1585 is 2 in x 2 in.

How long does production take?

Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit. The clock starts when you approve the proof, not when you place the order. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

What is the minimum order for P1585?

There is no minimum beyond one piece on P1585. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The price per piece only goes down as the quantity rises. The published ladder on P1585 runs from $2520.00 a piece at 1-11 down to $1562.40 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.
