What is the Gold Metal Cup-17 1/2"?

This trophy cup is made from die-cast zinc alloy with a plated finish. It measures 17 1/2". This is the gold colorway.

Die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed. Plating then sets the finish. Gold, silver or bronze.

A cup is the most recognizable award form there is. It needs no explanation in a photograph. Artwork is struck into the die, or applied as a printed or sublimated insert set into the recess.

This is a flagship piece. It is bought for the one or two moments a year that genuinely warrant it, and it is expected to be on display for years afterwards. Concretely: $200.00 each at 1-11, $124.00 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 1.2 in x 5 in.

Artwork requirements

  • Send vector if you have it. A .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg scales to any imprint without softening.
  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.
  • Vector files are the safe option. They hold their edges whether the mark runs at an inch or a foot.
  • Convert all type to outlines so fonts do not substitute in production.
  • Send the file you have, even if it is imperfect. We will tell you honestly whether it will hold up and redraw it if it will not.

Common uses

Championships and tournamentsBuilt for championships and tournaments. That is the use case the format was designed around, not one retrofitted to it.
Annual perpetual awardsA natural fit for annual perpetual awards, which is one of the settings this trophy cup was specified for.
Remote team welcome kitsShipped to a home address, which for a distributed team is the only physical touch the company gets.
Event and conference giftingHanded to qualified conversations rather than to everyone, so the spend goes where the pipeline is.
Team and department awardsRecognizing a group without the cost or ceremony of individual crystal for every person.
Client thank-you programsSent after a renewal, a referral or a project close, when the relationship is warm and the gesture will land.
Recruiting and onboardingIncluded in offer packs and first-day kits, where the object is doing culture work from the very first hour.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Departments buy separately even when the brand is shared, which is how a university ends up with nine versions of its own crest. A single approved item list with locked artwork solves more than any individual purchasing decision will. An imprint area of 1.2 in x 5 in is enough for a logo and a line of text without crowding. The piece the room looks at. Price it as an event cost, not merchandise.

2

Weddings, Reunions & Milestone Events

Personal events are the one segment where the recipient genuinely wants the item personalized. Guests keep what they can use and discard what merely commemorates. An item that works on an ordinary Tuesday will outlive the event by years; one that only makes sense on the day will not survive the drive home. This is the one people stand next to in the photograph.

3

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Recognition pieces for major donors and board members are the clearest win: they are relatively few, they are highly personal, and they materially affect renewal. For event merchandise, price the item to sell rather than to give. Reserved for a milestone big enough to justify the line item on its own.

4

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. Awards are read as a hierarchy whether or not you intended one. If the participation piece and the champion piece look similar, the champion feels short-changed, and that is remembered longer than the result. Minimum order is a single piece, which suits how this segment tends to buy. At $200.00 before breaks this is a once-a-year piece.

What do buyers ask about CMC705G?

What artwork do you need from me?

Vector artwork is ideal (.ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg) with all type converted to outlines. High-resolution raster at 300 dpi or better also works, and a logo saved from a website is worth sending anyway. We check it against the 1.2 in x 5 in personalization area and tell you before you pay whether it holds up at that size.

Can I get a sample before committing?

Yes: order one piece. CMC705G sells from a single unit at $200.00, the first rung of its published ladder, so a sample is simply a normal order. A decorated single piece goes through the same proof as a full run.

Can I mix colors or sizes to reach a quantity break?

Yes, provided the artwork stays the same across the run. Different artwork is fine as well: it gets its own proof, and setup stays free. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The published ladder on CMC705G runs from $200.00 a piece at 1-11 down to $124.00 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.

How should this be cared for?

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid abrasives, which cut through plating. CMC705G measures 17 1/2" and is made of zinc alloy. Die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed.

Is there a setup charge?

No. Setup is free on every order at every quantity. Art preparation, machine setup and your digital proof are built into the price, with nothing added for them later. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout.

How is this decorated?

We run die struck on CMC705G as standard. Crisp raised and recessed relief in solid metal. We can also run Printed Insert and Laser Engraving (back) on this item if the artwork calls for it. The personalization area on CMC705G is 1.2 in x 5 in. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing.

Can I see a proof before you produce the order?

Yes, and nothing runs until you have signed it off. Read it properly rather than skimming, because the approved proof is the specification we produce against. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

What is the minimum order for CMC705G?

There is no minimum beyond one piece on CMC705G. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The price per piece only goes down as the quantity rises. The published ladder on CMC705G runs from $200.00 a piece at 1-11 down to $124.00 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.
