What is the Hockey MidNite Star Medal-Gold?

This is a medal in resin. Straightforward to decorate, and durable enough that the decoration outlasts the occasion. It measures 2". This is the gold colorway.

Worth knowing before you order: casting is what allows shapes, figures, sport-specific sculpts, dimensional forms, that simply cannot be cut from crystal or metal at a comparable price. It is the reason resin dominates youth sport and participation awards.

Medals scale to hundreds of recipients at a cost per person that no other award form matches. On this substrate specifically: decoration is applied to an engraving plate or a printed plate fitted to the base, not to the sculpt itself.

At this level the item is buying attention rather than gratitude. Order enough to be generous with it, because restraint here saves very little and costs reach. Concretely: $4.80 each at 1-11, $2.98 at 500+.

Artwork requirements

  • Send the file you have, even if it is imperfect. We will tell you honestly whether it will hold up and redraw it if it will not.
  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.
  • Send vector if you have it. A .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg scales to any imprint without softening.
  • Name the PMS values for anything that has to match a brand standard; screen color is not a reliable reference.
  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.
  • Nothing is produced before you approve a proof in writing. That is a hard rule, not a courtesy.

Common uses

Races and tournamentsA natural fit for races and tournaments, which is one of the settings this medal was specified for.
School achievementSchool achievement is where this earns its cost, and where buyers re-order it.
Participation recognitionSpecified regularly for participation recognition. The imprint area at 1.2 in x 1 in is sized for exactly that job.
Recruiting and onboardingIncluded in offer packs and first-day kits, where the object is doing culture work from the very first hour.
Booth and trade show handoutsThe item that gives someone a reason to stop walking, and a reason to remember which booth it came from.
Sponsorship and partner thanksGiven to the people who funded or enabled the work, in a form they can keep visible.
Executive and board giftingShort lists, individual personalization, and a piece that survives scrutiny.
Internal contests and incentivesA tangible prize outperforms a gift card for exactly the reason you would expect. It stays on the desk.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Student-facing items live rough. They go in backpacks, get left outdoors and are rarely cleaned, so durability matters more than finish. Faculty and donor gifting is the opposite problem and deserves an entirely separate specification. An imprint area of 1.2 in x 1 in is enough for a logo and a line of text without crowding. Volume is the point at $4.80; nobody is auditing this line item.

2

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Challenge coins, unit recognition, retirement and commendation pieces all carry established conventions. Sourcing compliance and documented lead times usually matter as much as the item itself. Cost per impression is the number that matters here, and it is very low.

3

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Donors read the gift as a statement about stewardship. Something visibly expensive can cost you more in confidence than it earns in goodwill, which is why restraint and a personal inscription usually outperform scale in this sector. Cheap enough to over-order slightly, which is the right call for a table.

4

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. The order arrives before the results do, which means engraving strategy is the real decision. Generic plates with a separate engraved insert let you produce early and personalize late, and that is usually the difference between hitting the date and missing it. Minimum order is a single piece, which suits how this segment tends to buy. At this price the risk is under-ordering, not over-ordering.

What do buyers ask about MS705G?

Can I mix colors or sizes to reach a quantity break?

Yes, provided the artwork stays the same across the run. Different artwork is fine as well: it gets its own proof, and setup stays free. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The published ladder on MS705G runs from $4.80 a piece at 1-11 down to $2.98 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

Tell us within 10 days of delivery and we replace it. Note any damage on the freight bill before you sign for it, because that is what the carrier claim turns on. Resolving it with the carrier is our job, not yours. The replacement runs from the artwork you already approved, so it matches the rest of the order.

Can I get a sample before committing?

Yes: order one piece. MS705G sells from a single unit at $4.80, the first rung of its published ladder, so a sample is simply a normal order. A decorated single piece goes through the same proof as a full run.

How long does production take?

Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit. The clock starts when you approve the proof, not when you place the order. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

How is this decorated?

Laser Engraving (plate) is the primary method on MS705G. The engraving plate is lasered, then fitted to the award. A permanent engraved plate on a cast body. We can also run UV Printing (plate) and Sublimated Plate on this item if the artwork calls for it. The personalization area on MS705G is 1.2 in x 1 in.

What artwork do you need from me?

Send vector if it exists, raster at 300 dpi if it does not, and whatever you have if neither. The personalization area on MS705G is 1.2 in x 1 in, and we redraw or re-proportion anything that will not survive it. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing.

What does it actually cost at quantity?

Most orders land near 48-95, which prices at $3.84 a piece. The published ladder on MS705G runs from $4.80 a piece at 1-11 down to $2.98 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout.
