What is the Lamp of Knowledge BriteLazer Medal-Gold?

This medal is made from die-cast zinc alloy with a plated finish. It measures 2". This is the gold colorway.

Die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed. Plating then sets the finish. Gold, silver or bronze. That is the difference between something kept and something replaced.

Artwork is struck into the die, or applied as a printed or sublimated insert set into the recess. Medals scale to hundreds of recipients at a cost per person that no other award form matches.

This is table-stock: priced to be handed out freely. The metric that matters is how many you can put into circulation, not what each one felt like to give. Concretely: $2.85 each at 1-11, $1.77 at 500+.

Artwork requirements

  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.
  • Convert all type to outlines so fonts do not substitute in production.
  • Vector artwork (.ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg) reproduces best at every size and is what we ask for first.
  • Type should be converted to curves or outlines, otherwise a missing font silently substitutes on our end.
  • Send the file you have, even if it is imperfect. We will tell you honestly whether it will hold up and redraw it if it will not.
  • If the logo is only available as a bitmap, we need it at 300 dpi or better at final size, ideally on a transparent background.

Common uses

Races and tournamentsBuilt for races and tournaments. That is the use case the format was designed around, not one retrofitted to it.
School achievementA natural fit for school achievement, which is one of the settings this medal was specified for.
Participation recognitionSpecified regularly for participation recognition. The imprint area at 1.2 in x 1 in is sized for exactly that job.
Executive and board giftingShort lists, individual personalization, and a piece that survives scrutiny.
Customer loyalty tiersA physical marker of status that an account dashboard cannot replicate.
Client thank-you programsSent after a renewal, a referral or a project close, when the relationship is warm and the gesture will land.
Safety and quality milestonesMarking a record that took every person on the floor to achieve, with something they can point at.
Service anniversariesFive, ten and twenty years. The object marks the span in a way a announcement never manages.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. Participation medals for the field, distinct pieces for placegetters, and something with real presence for the overall champion. Production timing is usually the binding constraint, so lock artwork well before the event rather than after the results are known. Artwork is struck into the die, or applied as a printed or sublimated insert set into the recess. At this price the risk is under-ordering, not over-ordering.

2

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Departments buy separately even when the brand is shared, which is how a university ends up with nine versions of its own crest. A single approved item list with locked artwork solves more than any individual purchasing decision will. The medal format earns its place here on keep-rate rather than headline price. Down to $1.77 at volume, which is where this stops being a cost.

3

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Protocol governs the object. Placement of insignia, order of precedence on a plaque and the wording of a commendation are conventions rather than preferences, and getting them wrong is the one error this segment does not overlook. Buy for coverage. The arithmetic rewards it and the budget will not notice.

4

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Recognition pieces for major donors and board members are the clearest win: they are relatively few, they are highly personal, and they materially affect renewal. For event merchandise, price the item to sell rather than to give. Die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed. At $2.85 before breaks it is cheap enough to hand out without counting.

What do buyers ask about BL309G?

Can you work to a fixed in-hand date?

Yes. Give us the in-hand date and checkout tells you immediately whether standard production makes it. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

Can I see a proof before you produce the order?

Always, and we do not start without written approval. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing. Once approved, the proof becomes the specification for the run, so check the spelling and the placement carefully. The personalization area on BL309G is 1.2 in x 1 in.

Do you ship to multiple addresses?

Yes, through a quote. Card checkout ships one order to one address, so for a split run send the address list with a quote request and we confirm the freight for every destination in writing before you pay. The artwork is proofed once and applied across the whole run. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

How long does production take?

Door to door at standard speed: a day for the proof, 3 to 5 business days in production, then 1 to 5 business days in transit. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

How is this decorated?

Die Struck is the primary method on BL309G. The design is struck into metal with a custom die. Crisp raised and recessed relief in solid metal. We can also run Printed Insert and Laser Engraving (back) on this item if the artwork calls for it. The personalization area on BL309G is 1.2 in x 1 in.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

We replace damaged pieces. Send a photograph and the item number within 10 days of delivery and we handle the carrier claim ourselves. If the box arrives visibly damaged, write that on the freight bill before signing. The replacement runs from the artwork you already approved, so it matches the rest of the order.

What artwork do you need from me?

Send vector if it exists, raster at 300 dpi if it does not, and whatever you have if neither. The personalization area on BL309G is 1.2 in x 1 in, and we redraw or re-proportion anything that will not survive it. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing.

What is the minimum order for BL309G?

BL309G can be ordered from a single piece. The published ladder on BL309G runs from $2.85 a piece at 1-11 down to $1.77 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. There is no setup fee at any quantity. The personalization area on BL309G is 1.2 in x 1 in.
