What is the Music Galaxy Medal-Gold?

A working medal. Die-cast zinc alloy with a plated finish. It measures 2 1/4". This is the gold colorway.

Die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed. Plating then sets the finish. Gold, silver or bronze.

Medals scale to hundreds of recipients at a cost per person that no other award form matches. Artwork is struck into the die, or applied as a printed or sublimated insert set into the recess.

This sits in the giveaway tier, where the job is reach: enough units to hand one to everyone who walks past the table, at a cost per impression low enough that nobody has to justify it line by line. Concretely: $4.15 each at 1-11, $2.57 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 1.35 in x 1.01 in.

Die Struck

The design is struck into metal with a custom die. Crisp raised and recessed relief in solid metal.

Best for

Medals, coins and lapel pins.

Color

Metal finish, optionally enamel-filled.

Printed Insert

A printed or sublimated disc is set into the recess of the piece. Full-color artwork inside a cast metal frame.

Best for

Medals and emblem holders where color is required.

Color

Full color.

Laser Engraving (back)

The reverse face is laser engraved. Personalization without disturbing the struck front face.

Best for

Medals with a standard front and individual backs.

Color

Substrate color.

Artwork requirements

  • Send vector if you have it. A .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg scales to any imprint without softening.
  • If the logo is only available as a bitmap, we need it at 300 dpi or better at final size, ideally on a transparent background.
  • Outline your fonts before sending. It removes the most common cause of a proof coming back wrong.
  • Name the PMS values for anything that has to match a brand standard; screen color is not a reliable reference.
  • Vector files are the safe option. They hold their edges whether the mark runs at an inch or a foot.
  • Convert all type to outlines so fonts do not substitute in production.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Procurement documentation often takes longer than production. Quotes with fixed validity periods, documented lead times and clear line-item pricing move faster through approval than a better price presented informally. Artwork is struck into the die, or applied as a printed or sublimated insert set into the recess. Cost per impression is the number that matters here, and it is very low.

2

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Volunteer recognition is where the money works hardest. Volunteers give time that would otherwise cost you wages, and the marginal cost of thanking them properly is trivial against what their continued involvement is worth. The medal format earns its place here on keep-rate rather than headline price. Cheap enough to over-order slightly, which is the right call for a table.

3

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. Participation medals for the field, distinct pieces for placegetters, and something with real presence for the overall champion. Production timing is usually the binding constraint, so lock artwork well before the event rather than after the results are known. At this price the risk is under-ordering, not over-ordering.

4

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Departments buy separately even when the brand is shared, which is how a university ends up with nine versions of its own crest. A single approved item list with locked artwork solves more than any individual purchasing decision will. Die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed. Down to $2.57 at volume, which is where this stops being a cost.

What do buyers ask about GM108G?

What if the artwork does not fit the imprint area?

The personalization area on GM108G is 1.35 in x 1.01 in. If your mark does not sit well in that shape we redraw or re-proportion it and show you the result on the proof before anything is produced. Engraving is charged on the share of the area your artwork covers, so a smaller mark costs less.

What does it actually cost at quantity?

The published ladder on GM108G runs from $4.15 a piece at 1-11 down to $2.57 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

How long does production take?

Door to door at standard speed: a day for the proof, 3 to 5 business days in production, then 1 to 5 business days in transit. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

What artwork do you need from me?

Vector artwork is ideal (.ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg) with all type converted to outlines. High-resolution raster at 300 dpi or better also works, and a logo saved from a website is worth sending anyway. We check it against the 1.35 in x 1.01 in personalization area and tell you before you pay whether it holds up at that size.

Is there a setup charge?

There is no setup charge, ever. Art preparation, machine setup and the proof are part of the price on this page. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

Can I order more later and have them match?

Yes. We keep the approved artwork on file against the item number, so a re-order runs from the same file. Material batches can vary slightly on natural materials, which is worth knowing if color matching across orders is critical. The published ladder on GM108G runs from $4.15 a piece at 1-11 down to $2.57 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

We replace damaged pieces. Send a photograph and the item number within 10 days of delivery and we handle the carrier claim ourselves. If the box arrives visibly damaged, write that on the freight bill before signing. The replacement runs from the artwork you already approved, so it matches the rest of the order.

What is the minimum order for GM108G?

GM108G can be ordered from a single piece. The published ladder on GM108G runs from $4.15 a piece at 1-11 down to $2.57 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. There is no setup fee at any quantity. The personalization area on GM108G is 1.35 in x 1.01 in.
