What is the Silver/Gold Metal Cup-16 1/2"?

This trophy cup is made from die-cast zinc alloy with a plated finish. It measures 16 1/2". This is the silver colorway, one of 2 in the range.

In practice: die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed. Plating then sets the finish. Gold, silver or bronze.

A cup is the most recognizable award form there is. It needs no explanation in a photograph. Artwork is struck into the die, or applied as a printed or sublimated insert set into the recess.

Executive tier, where individual personalization is expected rather than optional. Budget it against specific relationships, not against a headcount. Concretely: $74.00 each at 1-11, $45.88 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 3.75 in x 5 in.

Artwork requirements

  • Type should be converted to curves or outlines, otherwise a missing font silently substitutes on our end.
  • Do not spend a week hunting for the perfect file. Send what exists and we will tell you what is usable.
  • If the logo is only available as a bitmap, we need it at 300 dpi or better at final size, ideally on a transparent background.
  • Supply Pantone (PMS) references for any color that has to match exactly.
  • Send vector if you have it. A .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg scales to any imprint without softening.
  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.

Common uses

Championships and tournamentsBuilt for championships and tournaments. That is the use case the format was designed around, not one retrofitted to it.
Annual perpetual awardsSpecified regularly for annual perpetual awards. The imprint area at 3.75 in x 5 in is sized for exactly that job.
Service anniversariesFive, ten and twenty years. The object marks the span in a way a announcement never manages.
Internal contests and incentivesA tangible prize outperforms a gift card for exactly the reason you would expect. It stays on the desk.
Remote team welcome kitsShipped to a home address, which for a distributed team is the only physical touch the company gets.
Team and department awardsRecognizing a group without the cost or ceremony of individual crystal for every person.
Safety and quality milestonesMarking a record that took every person on the floor to achieve, with something they can point at.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Recognition pieces for major donors and board members are the clearest win: they are relatively few, they are highly personal, and they materially affect renewal. For event merchandise, price the item to sell rather than to give. An imprint area of 3.75 in x 5 in is enough for a logo and a line of text without crowding. Give this to the handful of people who genuinely moved the number.

2

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. Awards are read as a hierarchy whether or not you intended one. If the participation piece and the champion piece look similar, the champion feels short-changed, and that is remembered longer than the result. At this price the recipient list should fit on one page.

3

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Student-facing items live rough. They go in backpacks, get left outdoors and are rarely cleaned, so durability matters more than finish. Faculty and donor gifting is the opposite problem and deserves an entirely separate specification. Executive tier. Treat the engraving as carefully as the invoice.

4

Weddings, Reunions & Milestone Events

Personal events are the one segment where the recipient genuinely wants the item personalized. Names, dates and short inscriptions turn an ordinary object into something kept for decades. Quantities are modest and lead times are unforgiving, which makes production scheduling the thing to get right. Minimum order is a single piece, which suits how this segment tends to buy. Even at volume it holds $45.88, which tells you what tier this is.

What do buyers ask about CMC296?

What if the artwork does not fit the imprint area?

The personalization area on CMC296 is 3.75 in x 5 in. If your mark does not sit well in that shape we redraw or re-proportion it and show you the result on the proof before anything is produced. Engraving is charged on the share of the area your artwork covers, so a smaller mark costs less.

Is there a setup charge?

There is no setup charge, ever. Art preparation, machine setup and the proof are part of the price on this page. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid abrasives, which cut through plating. CMC296 measures 16 1/2" and is made of zinc alloy. Die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed.

Do you ship to multiple addresses?

Yes, through a quote. The artwork is proofed once and applied across the whole run. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

Can I get a sample before committing?

Yes: order one piece. CMC296 sells from a single unit at $74.00, the first rung of its published ladder, so a sample is simply a normal order. A decorated single piece goes through the same proof as a full run.

Can I order more later and have them match?

Yes. We keep the approved artwork on file against the item number, so a re-order runs from the same file. Material batches can vary slightly on natural materials, which is worth knowing if color matching across orders is critical.
