What is the Spelling Ten Star Medal-Bronze, 2 1/4"?

The Spelling Ten Star Medal-Bronze, 2 1/4" is a medal built around Die-cast zinc alloy with a plated finish. It measures 2 1/4". This is the bronze colorway.

Die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed. Plating then sets the finish. Gold, silver or bronze.

Medals scale to hundreds of recipients at a cost per person that no other award form matches. On this substrate specifically: artwork is struck into the die, or applied as a printed or sublimated insert set into the recess.

This sits in the giveaway tier, where the job is reach: enough units to hand one to everyone who walks past the table, at a cost per impression low enough that nobody has to justify it line by line. Concretely: $4.15 each at 1-11, $2.57 at 500+.

Artwork requirements

  • If brand color accuracy matters, give us the Pantone numbers rather than a screenshot to match.
  • Outline your fonts before sending. It removes the most common cause of a proof coming back wrong.
  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.
  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.
  • Send vector if you have it. A .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg scales to any imprint without softening.
  • Name the PMS values for anything that has to match a brand standard; screen color is not a reliable reference.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Departments buy separately even when the brand is shared, which is how a university ends up with nine versions of its own crest. A single approved item list with locked artwork solves more than any individual purchasing decision will. Artwork is struck into the die, or applied as a printed or sublimated insert set into the recess. Down to $2.57 at volume, which is where this stops being a cost.

2

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Protocol governs the object. Placement of insignia, order of precedence on a plaque and the wording of a commendation are conventions rather than preferences, and getting them wrong is the one error this segment does not overlook. The medal format earns its place here on keep-rate rather than headline price. Buy for coverage. The arithmetic rewards it and the budget will not notice.

3

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Recognition pieces for major donors and board members are the clearest win: they are relatively few, they are highly personal, and they materially affect renewal. For event merchandise, price the item to sell rather than to give. At $4.15 before breaks it is cheap enough to hand out without counting.

4

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. Awards are read as a hierarchy whether or not you intended one. If the participation piece and the champion piece look similar, the champion feels short-changed, and that is remembered longer than the result. Die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed. The unit cost here is low enough that reach matters more than restraint.

What do buyers ask about TS516B?

What happens if something arrives damaged?

We replace damaged pieces. Send a photograph and the item number within 10 days of delivery and we handle the carrier claim ourselves. If the box arrives visibly damaged, write that on the freight bill before signing. The replacement runs from the artwork you already approved, so it matches the rest of the order.

How should this be cared for?

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid abrasives, which cut through plating. TS516B measures 2 1/4" and is made of zinc alloy. Die casting captures far finer relief detail than stamping, so medals and heavier emblem pieces are cast rather than pressed.

How is this decorated?

We run die struck on TS516B as standard. Crisp raised and recessed relief in solid metal. We can also run Printed Insert and Laser Engraving (back) on this item if the artwork calls for it. The personalization area on TS516B is 1.35 in x 1.01 in. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing.

Can I see a proof before you produce the order?

Yes, and nothing runs until you have signed it off. Read it properly rather than skimming, because the approved proof is the specification we produce against. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

What if the artwork does not fit the imprint area?

The personalization area on TS516B is 1.35 in x 1.01 in. If your mark does not sit well in that shape we redraw or re-proportion it and show you the result on the proof before anything is produced. Engraving is charged on the share of the area your artwork covers, so a smaller mark costs less.

Can I order more later and have them match?

Re-orders reproduce rather than reinterpret. We keep the approved artwork on file against the item number, so a re-order runs from the same file. On natural materials the base itself can shift a little between batches, so tell us if an exact match matters. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

Is there a setup charge?

There is no setup charge, ever. Art preparation, machine setup and the proof are part of the price on this page. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

What is the minimum order for TS516B?

TS516B can be ordered from a single piece. The published ladder on TS516B runs from $4.15 a piece at 1-11 down to $2.57 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. There is no setup fee at any quantity. The personalization area on TS516B is 1.35 in x 1.01 in.
