What is the Blue/Black Laserable Leatherette Pen?

A working pen. Laserable polyurethane leatherette bonded to a contrasting core. It measures 5 5/16". This is the blue colorway, one of 2 in the range.

Leatherette solves the two problems real leather has as a promotional substrate: it is consistent from unit to unit, so a hundred pieces look like a hundred of the same piece, and it does not absorb moisture, stain, or fray at cut edges.

Pens circulate: they get borrowed and not returned, which for a promotional item is a feature. This is one of the highest-contrast decoration surfaces in the industry. The laser removes the top layer and reveals the core color underneath, so the logo appears as a crisp, permanent, two-tone mark with no ink and nothing to wear off.

Giveaway pricing, which changes how you should think about quantity. Running short at a booth costs more in missed conversations than the extra units would have cost to print. Concretely: $6.00 each at 1-11, $3.72 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 3 in x 0.25 in.

Laser Engraving

A focused laser removes the surface layer to expose the substrate beneath. A permanent, high-contrast, single-color mark with no ink involved.

Best for

Logos, names, dates and fine text. The default choice when the mark has to outlive the campaign.

Color

Single color: the natural color of the material under the surface.

Debossing

A heated die presses the artwork into the material. A subtle, tactile, recessed impression in the surface color.

Best for

Leather and leatherette gifts where understatement is the point.

Color

Blind (no color) or foil-filled.

UV Printing

UV-cured ink is jetted directly onto the product and cured instantly under ultraviolet light. Full-color, photographic-quality artwork with hard edges and no dot gain.

Best for

Multi-color logos, gradients, photographs and exact brand-color matching.

Color

Full color, including white ink on dark substrates.

Artwork requirements

  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.
  • Send vector if you have it. A .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg scales to any imprint without softening.
  • Convert all type to outlines so fonts do not substitute in production.
  • A digital proof comes back to you first, every time. Production starts on your written approval and not before.
  • If brand color accuracy matters, give us the Pantone numbers rather than a screenshot to match.
  • Artwork we redraw stays on file under your item number, so the next order runs from the same corrected file.

Common uses

Conference kitsSpecified regularly for conference kits. The imprint area at 3 in x 0.25 in is sized for exactly that job.
Reception and counter giveawaysWorks well for reception and counter giveaways, where the pen format does what a printed handout cannot.
Direct mailDirect mail is where this earns its cost, and where buyers re-order it.
Client thank-you programsSent after a renewal, a referral or a project close, when the relationship is warm and the gesture will land.
Customer loyalty tiersA physical marker of status that an account dashboard cannot replicate.
Employee milestonesAnniversaries, promotions and retirements: the moments where a personalized object does what an email cannot.
Booth and trade show handoutsThe item that gives someone a reason to stop walking, and a reason to remember which booth it came from.
Renewal and retention giftsTimed to the contract date rather than the calendar, which is when the recipient is actually paying attention.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Trade Shows & Conferences

Booth traffic is not the metric: what leaves the hall and stays in use is. The giveaway is a conversation opener, not a memory device. Its real job is giving someone a reason to stand still for ninety seconds, which is why something that invites a question outperforms something that merely carries a logo. At this price the risk is under-ordering, not over-ordering.

2

Financial Services, Insurance & Legal

Professional services sell trust, and the gift has to look like the invoice. Understated materials, restrained decoration and genuine quality all read as competence. Anything that looks cheap actively undermines the positioning, so this segment skews toward crystal, leather and solid desk pieces. Decoration holds up in this setting, which is where cheaper substrates fail. Down to $3.72 at volume, which is where this stops being a cost.

3

Healthcare & Senior Living

Healthcare buyers screen for practicality and hygiene before they screen for design. Shift work changes the specification. Items are carried between home, locker and ward, so anything that leaks, breaks or cannot go through a dishwasher gets abandoned within a fortnight regardless of how good it looked at the point of purchase. An imprint area of 3 in x 0.25 in is enough for a logo and a line of text without crowding. Buy for coverage. The arithmetic rewards it and the budget will not notice.

4

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Student-facing items live rough. They go in backpacks, get left outdoors and are rarely cleaned, so durability matters more than finish. Faculty and donor gifting is the opposite problem and deserves an entirely separate specification. At $6.00 before breaks it is cheap enough to hand out without counting.

5

Franchise & Multi-Location Brands

The hard problem in multi-location branding is consistency, not creativity. A single approved item list, locked artwork and a repeatable re-order path stop forty locations producing forty versions of the logo. Stocked programs with fixed pricing are what make that governable. The unit cost here is low enough that reach matters more than restraint.

What do buyers ask about LP456?

How long does production take?

Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit. The clock starts when you approve the proof, not when you place the order. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

Is there a setup charge?

There is no setup charge, ever. Art preparation, machine setup and the proof are part of the price on this page. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

Can you work to a fixed in-hand date?

Yes. Give us the in-hand date and checkout tells you immediately whether standard production makes it. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

Do you keep this item in stock?

Yes. The warehouse shows 411 of LP456 in stock as of the last hourly sync. If a color is short we say so the day you order rather than the week before the deadline. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

Can I see a proof before you produce the order?

Yes, and nothing runs until you have signed it off. Read it properly rather than skimming, because the approved proof is the specification we produce against. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

We replace damaged pieces. Send a photograph and the item number within 10 days of delivery and we handle the carrier claim ourselves. If the box arrives visibly damaged, write that on the freight bill before signing. The replacement runs from the artwork you already approved, so it matches the rest of the order.

Can I mix colors or sizes to reach a quantity break?

Yes. LP456 runs in 2 colors and they combine for pricing, as long as the artwork does not change between them. Different artwork is fine as well: it gets its own proof, and setup stays free. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+.

What is the minimum order for LP456?

LP456 can be ordered from a single piece. The published ladder on LP456 runs from $6.00 a piece at 1-11 down to $3.72 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. There is no setup fee at any quantity. The personalization area on LP456 is 3 in x 0.25 in.
