What is the Cork Small Portfolio with Notepad?

A cork journal, catalogued here as GFT783. The substrate was picked for decoration quality first and appearance second, which is the right order. It measures 7" x 9".

Cork is naturally water-resistant, compressible and grippy, and that is what makes it work as a coaster and a base material rather than just a sustainable talking point. That is the difference between something kept and something replaced.

A journal is carried into meetings, which puts the logo in front of third parties rather than only the recipient. Laser engraving produces a soft darkened mark. Best with bold, simple artwork rather than fine detail.

Above handout territory. The value here is in choosing recipients deliberately, because the object is good enough that the choosing is part of the message. Concretely: $31.25 each at 1-11, $19.38 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 4.2 in x 3.5 in.

Laser Engraving

A focused laser removes the surface layer to expose the substrate beneath. A permanent, high-contrast, single-color mark with no ink involved.

Best for

Logos, names, dates and fine text. The default choice when the mark has to outlive the campaign.

Color

Single color: the natural color of the material under the surface.

UV Printing

UV-cured ink is jetted directly onto the product and cured instantly under ultraviolet light. Full-color, photographic-quality artwork with hard edges and no dot gain.

Best for

Multi-color logos, gradients, photographs and exact brand-color matching.

Color

Full color, including white ink on dark substrates.

Artwork requirements

  • We send a digital proof for written approval before production starts. Nothing goes on a machine until you sign it off.
  • Send the file you have, even if it is imperfect. We will tell you honestly whether it will hold up and redraw it if it will not.
  • Vector files are the safe option. They hold their edges whether the mark runs at an inch or a foot.
  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.
  • Nothing is produced before you approve a proof in writing. That is a hard rule, not a courtesy.
  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.

Common uses

Executive giftingWorks well for executive gifting, where the journal format does what a printed handout cannot.
Conference kitsBuilt for conference kits. That is the use case the format was designed around, not one retrofitted to it.
OnboardingOnboarding is where this earns its cost, and where buyers re-order it.
Employee milestonesAnniversaries, promotions and retirements: the moments where a personalized object does what an email cannot.
Internal contests and incentivesA tangible prize outperforms a gift card for exactly the reason you would expect. It stays on the desk.
Event and conference giftingHanded to qualified conversations rather than to everyone, so the spend goes where the pipeline is.
Community and civic eventsLocal sponsorships and volunteer thanks, where visible presence matters more than volume.
Team and department awardsRecognizing a group without the cost or ceremony of individual crystal for every person.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Financial Services, Insurance & Legal

Professional services sell trust, and the gift has to look like the invoice. Understated materials, restrained decoration and genuine quality all read as competence. Anything that looks cheap actively undermines the positioning, so this segment skews toward crystal, leather and solid desk pieces. Worth personalising individually at this price; the response rate justifies it.

2

Corporate Gifting & Client Appreciation

Client gifting has one job: to be kept. Timing beats budget in this segment. The same gift sent a week after a renewal lands completely differently from one sent in December with four hundred others, because in January it is the only thing on the desk. Buy for the calendar you control rather than the one everybody shares. Cork is naturally water-resistant, compressible and grippy, and that is what makes it work as a coaster and a base material rather than just a sustainable talking point.. $31.25 before breaks puts this above hand-out territory. Use it that way.

3

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Student-facing items live rough. They go in backpacks, get left outdoors and are rarely cleaned, so durability matters more than finish. Faculty and donor gifting is the opposite problem and deserves an entirely separate specification. Reserve this for the shortlist and the response changes noticeably.

4

Technology, SaaS & Startups

Distributed teams have no office to carry the culture, so the objects have to. Shipping a considered kit to a home address is now a standard part of remote onboarding, and it is the rare marketing spend that shows up in retention numbers. Ship-safe materials matter more here than in any other segment. Decoration holds up in this setting, which is where cheaper substrates fail. Personalise it. At this tier a name is what makes it land.

5

Onboarding & New Hire Kits

Day one sets the tone for everything after it. Order for the year, not the hire. Onboarding kits fail on availability rather than design: a start date arrives, the item is out of stock, and the new person gets an apology instead of a welcome. Hold quantity against forecast headcount and the problem disappears. An imprint area of 4.2 in x 3.5 in is enough for a logo and a line of text without crowding. Too good to scatter. Pick the recipients deliberately.

6

Trade Shows & Conferences

Booth traffic is not the metric: what leaves the hall and stays in use is. The giveaway is a conversation opener, not a memory device. Its real job is giving someone a reason to stand still for ninety seconds, which is why something that invites a question outperforms something that merely carries a logo. Volume takes it to $19.38, which widens the list without cheapening it.

What do buyers ask about GFT783?

Can I see a proof before you produce the order?

Yes, and nothing runs until you have signed it off. Read it properly rather than skimming, because the approved proof is the specification we produce against. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

Can I mix colors or sizes to reach a quantity break?

Yes, provided the artwork stays the same across the run. Different artwork is fine as well: it gets its own proof, and setup stays free. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The published ladder on GFT783 runs from $31.25 a piece at 1-11 down to $19.38 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.

Can I get a sample before committing?

Yes: order one piece. GFT783 sells from a single unit at $31.25, the first rung of its published ladder, so a sample is simply a normal order. A decorated single piece goes through the same proof as a full run.

How is this decorated?

We run laser engraving on GFT783 as standard. A permanent, high-contrast, single-color mark with no ink involved. We can also run UV Printing on this item if the artwork calls for it. The personalization area on GFT783 is 4.2 in x 3.5 in. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing.

What does it actually cost at quantity?

The published ladder on GFT783 runs from $31.25 a piece at 1-11 down to $19.38 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

What if the artwork does not fit the imprint area?

The personalization area on GFT783 is 4.2 in x 3.5 in. If your mark does not sit well in that shape we redraw or re-proportion it and show you the result on the proof before anything is produced. Engraving is charged on the share of the area your artwork covers, so a smaller mark costs less.

Can you work to a fixed in-hand date?

Yes, and it is the right way to brief us. Tell us the date the box has to be open rather than the date you want it shipped, and checkout works the schedule backwards from there. It refuses a date it cannot keep rather than accepting it and missing it. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

What is the minimum order for GFT783?

There is no minimum beyond one piece on GFT783. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The price per piece only goes down as the quantity rises. The published ladder on GFT783 runs from $31.25 a piece at 1-11 down to $19.38 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.
