What is the 8" x 10" Gloss Value Black Finish Plaque with Pin?

A working plaque. Solid wood with a natural grain and a finished surface. It measures 8" x 10". This is the black colorway.

Wood carries a warmth that metal and acrylic do not, and that is why it keeps showing up on service awards and retirement pieces where the message is personal rather than corporate..

Wall-mounted recognition stays visible to everyone who walks past, not just the recipient. On this substrate specifically: laser engraving burns directly into the grain for a permanent mark. Expect slight tonal variation between pieces.

This is the workhorse tier: the price point where an item is good enough to be kept but affordable enough to order in real quantity. Most successful programs live here. Concretely: $13.35 each at 1-11, $8.28 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 6.5 in x 8.5 in.

Laser Engraving

A focused laser removes the surface layer to expose the substrate beneath. A permanent, high-contrast, single-color mark with no ink involved.

Best for

Logos, names, dates and fine text. The default choice when the mark has to outlive the campaign.

Color

Single color: the natural color of the material under the surface.

UV Printing

UV-cured ink is jetted directly onto the product and cured instantly under ultraviolet light. Full-color, photographic-quality artwork with hard edges and no dot gain.

Best for

Multi-color logos, gradients, photographs and exact brand-color matching.

Color

Full color, including white ink on dark substrates.

Artwork requirements

  • Vector files are the safe option. They hold their edges whether the mark runs at an inch or a foot.
  • Name the PMS values for anything that has to match a brand standard; screen color is not a reliable reference.
  • Convert all type to outlines so fonts do not substitute in production.
  • Supply Pantone (PMS) references for any color that has to match exactly.
  • If the logo is only available as a bitmap, we need it at 300 dpi or better at final size, ideally on a transparent background.
  • Raster artwork should be at least 300 dpi at the finished imprint size, on a transparent or white background.

Common uses

Service awardsSpecified regularly for service awards. The imprint area at 6.5 in x 8.5 in is sized for exactly that job.
Donor recognitionSpecified regularly for donor recognition. The imprint area at 6.5 in x 8.5 in is sized for exactly that job.
Sponsor and partner recognitionBuilt for sponsor and partner recognition. That is the use case the format was designed around, not one retrofitted to it.
Renewal and retention giftsTimed to the contract date rather than the calendar, which is when the recipient is actually paying attention.
Customer loyalty tiersA physical marker of status that an account dashboard cannot replicate.
Remote team welcome kitsShipped to a home address, which for a distributed team is the only physical touch the company gets.
Safety and quality milestonesMarking a record that took every person on the floor to achieve, with something they can point at.
Employee milestonesAnniversaries, promotions and retirements: the moments where a personalized object does what an email cannot.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Donors read the gift as a statement about stewardship. Something visibly expensive can cost you more in confidence than it earns in goodwill, which is why restraint and a personal inscription usually outperform scale in this sector. $13.35 before breaks buys something people keep rather than bin.

2

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Student-facing items live rough. They go in backpacks, get left outdoors and are rarely cleaned, so durability matters more than finish. Faculty and donor gifting is the opposite problem and deserves an entirely separate specification. Wood carries a warmth that metal and acrylic do not, and that is why it keeps showing up on service awards and retirement pieces where the message is personal rather than corporate.. Deep enough quantity is affordable here, which is unusual at this quality.

3

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Challenge coins, unit recognition, retirement and commendation pieces all carry established conventions. Sourcing compliance and documented lead times usually matter as much as the item itself. The workhorse choice for this audience, and it re-orders predictably.

4

Faith & Community Organizations

Faith communities give to mark moments rather than to advertise. These pieces are given once and kept for a lifetime, so the failure mode is not looking cheap but dating badly. Restrained typography and no year-specific styling means the piece still reads well in twenty years. Decoration holds up in this setting, which is where cheaper substrates fail. Priced so you can cover everyone without cheapening the gesture.

5

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. The order arrives before the results do, which means engraving strategy is the real decision. Generic plates with a separate engraved insert let you produce early and personalize late, and that is usually the difference between hitting the date and missing it. An imprint area of 6.5 in x 8.5 in is enough for a logo and a line of text without crowding. At $8.28 in volume the cost per kept item is hard to beat.

6

Employee Recognition & Service Awards

Recognition fails when the object does not match the words. If you are marking five or ten years of someone's working life, the piece has to carry weight. Literally and otherwise. Personalization with the individual's name is what converts a company gift into a personal keepsake, and it is the single highest-leverage decision in a recognition program. Roughly 38% comes off between one piece and a full run.

What do buyers ask about VP8K?

Is there a setup charge?

There is no setup charge, ever. Art preparation, machine setup and the proof are part of the price on this page. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

Do you ship to multiple addresses?

Yes, through a quote. Card checkout ships one order to one address, so for a split run send the address list with a quote request and we confirm the freight for every destination in writing before you pay. The artwork is proofed once and applied across the whole run. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

Can I order more later and have them match?

Re-orders reproduce rather than reinterpret. We keep the approved artwork on file against the item number, so a re-order runs from the same file. On natural materials the base itself can shift a little between batches, so tell us if an exact match matters. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

Can you work to a fixed in-hand date?

Yes, and it is the right way to brief us. Tell us the date the box has to be open rather than the date you want it shipped, and checkout works the schedule backwards from there. It refuses a date it cannot keep rather than accepting it and missing it. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

What does it actually cost at quantity?

Most orders land near 48-95, which prices at $10.68 a piece. The published ladder on VP8K runs from $13.35 a piece at 1-11 down to $8.28 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout.

Do you keep this item in stock?

Yes. The warehouse shows more than 1,000 of VP8K in stock as of the last hourly sync. If a color is short we say so the day you order rather than the week before the deadline. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

How long does production take?

Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit. The clock starts when you approve the proof, not when you place the order. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

What is the minimum order for VP8K?

There is no minimum beyond one piece on VP8K. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The price per piece only goes down as the quantity rises. The published ladder on VP8K runs from $13.35 a piece at 1-11 down to $8.28 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.
