What is the 9" x 12" Gloss Value Black Finish Plaque with Pin?

9" x 12" Gloss Value Black Finish Plaque with Pin (VP9K): a plaque where Solid wood with a natural grain and a finished surface does most of the work. It measures 9" x 12". This is the black colorway.

In practice: wood carries a warmth that metal and acrylic do not, and that is why it keeps showing up on service awards and retirement pieces where the message is personal rather than corporate..

Wall-mounted recognition stays visible to everyone who walks past, not just the recipient. Laser engraving burns directly into the grain for a permanent mark. Expect slight tonal variation between pieces.

This is where perceived value and order size stop fighting each other. You can buy enough to matter and still hand over something nobody quietly throws away. Concretely: $16.35 each at 1-11, $10.14 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 7.5 in x 10 in.

Laser Engraving

A focused laser removes the surface layer to expose the substrate beneath. A permanent, high-contrast, single-color mark with no ink involved.

Best for

Logos, names, dates and fine text. The default choice when the mark has to outlive the campaign.

Color

Single color: the natural color of the material under the surface.

UV Printing

UV-cured ink is jetted directly onto the product and cured instantly under ultraviolet light. Full-color, photographic-quality artwork with hard edges and no dot gain.

Best for

Multi-color logos, gradients, photographs and exact brand-color matching.

Color

Full color, including white ink on dark substrates.

Artwork requirements

  • If the logo is only available as a bitmap, we need it at 300 dpi or better at final size, ideally on a transparent background.
  • Name the PMS values for anything that has to match a brand standard; screen color is not a reliable reference.
  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.
  • Vector files are the safe option. They hold their edges whether the mark runs at an inch or a foot.
  • Send vector if you have it. A .ai, .eps, .pdf or .svg scales to any imprint without softening.

Common uses

Service awardsBuilt for service awards. That is the use case the format was designed around, not one retrofitted to it.
Donor recognitionDonor recognition is where this earns its cost, and where buyers re-order it.
Sponsor and partner recognitionSponsor and partner recognition is where this earns its cost, and where buyers re-order it.
Recruiting and onboardingIncluded in offer packs and first-day kits, where the object is doing culture work from the very first hour.
Remote team welcome kitsShipped to a home address, which for a distributed team is the only physical touch the company gets.
Team and department awardsRecognizing a group without the cost or ceremony of individual crystal for every person.
Event and conference giftingHanded to qualified conversations rather than to everyone, so the spend goes where the pipeline is.
Internal contests and incentivesA tangible prize outperforms a gift card for exactly the reason you would expect. It stays on the desk.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Education, Schools & Universities

Education buys in waves: orientation, homecoming, graduation, staff appreciation. Budgets are tight and quantities are large, which pushes toward mid-tier items ordered in volume. Alumni and donor gifting is the exception: that is where the spend per unit rises sharply, because the return is measured in gifts rather than impressions. Decoration holds up in this setting, which is where cheaper substrates fail. Deep enough quantity is affordable here, which is unusual at this quality.

2

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Procurement documentation often takes longer than production. Quotes with fixed validity periods, documented lead times and clear line-item pricing move faster through approval than a better price presented informally. An imprint area of 7.5 in x 10 in is enough for a logo and a line of text without crowding. The workhorse choice for this audience, and it re-orders predictably.

3

Faith & Community Organizations

Faith communities give to mark moments rather than to advertise. Congregations buy in small quantities across many occasions rather than in one annual run. That makes minimum order quantity and re-order consistency more important than unit price for almost every purchase in this segment. Priced so you can cover everyone without cheapening the gesture.

4

Sports Leagues, Tournaments & Clubs

Sport needs volume, deadlines and a clear hierarchy of awards. Participation medals for the field, distinct pieces for placegetters, and something with real presence for the overall champion. Production timing is usually the binding constraint, so lock artwork well before the event rather than after the results are known. At $10.14 in volume the cost per kept item is hard to beat.

5

Employee Recognition & Service Awards

Recognition fails when the object does not match the words. The presentation matters as much as the piece. An award handed over in a hallway is worth a fraction of the same award presented in front of the team, which means the object should be specified for the moment it will be photographed in, not the shelf it ends on. Minimum order is a single piece, which suits how this segment tends to buy. Roughly 38% comes off between one piece and a full run.

6

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Volunteer recognition is where the money works hardest. Volunteers give time that would otherwise cost you wages, and the marginal cost of thanking them properly is trivial against what their continued involvement is worth. Wall-mounted recognition stays visible to everyone who walks past, not just the recipient. At $16.35 before breaks this is the tier most programmes should live in.

What do buyers ask about VP9K?

What does it actually cost at quantity?

The published ladder on VP9K runs from $16.35 a piece at 1-11 down to $10.14 at 500+, about 38% less per piece. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

What artwork do you need from me?

Send vector if it exists, raster at 300 dpi if it does not, and whatever you have if neither. The personalization area on VP9K is 7.5 in x 10 in, and we redraw or re-proportion anything that will not survive it. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing.

Do you keep this item in stock?

Yes. The warehouse shows more than 1,000 of VP9K in stock as of the last hourly sync. If a color is short we say so the day you order rather than the week before the deadline. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

Can I mix colors or sizes to reach a quantity break?

Yes, provided the artwork stays the same across the run. Different artwork is fine as well: it gets its own proof, and setup stays free. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The published ladder on VP9K runs from $16.35 a piece at 1-11 down to $10.14 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.

How long does production take?

Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit. The clock starts when you approve the proof, not when you place the order. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

Can I see a proof before you produce the order?

Yes, and nothing runs until you have signed it off. Read it properly rather than skimming, because the approved proof is the specification we produce against. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

How should this be cared for?

Dust with a dry cloth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. VP9K measures 9" x 12" and is made of wood. Wood carries a warmth that metal and acrylic do not, and that is why it keeps showing up on service awards and retirement pieces where the message is personal rather than corporate.

What is the minimum order for VP9K?

There is no minimum beyond one piece on VP9K. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The price per piece only goes down as the quantity rises.
