What is the Large Crystal Wedge?

This is a crystal award in crystal. Straightforward to decorate, and durable enough that the decoration outlasts the occasion. It measures 5 1/2" x 8".

Lead content increases the refractive index, which is the technical reason lead crystal throws more light and looks noticeably more brilliant under display lighting than ordinary glass. It also adds weight, which is a large part of why crystal reads as a premium award.

Crystal is the accepted visual shorthand for "this one mattered", and that is why it remains the default for flagship recognition. On this substrate specifically: sand carving produces the deepest, most tactile mark. Laser engraving is faster and better suited to fine text and small logos.

A centerpiece rather than a program. Budget it as an event cost, because that is what it is, and expect it to be photographed. Concretely: $230.00 each at 1-11, $142.60 at 500+.

Decoration options

The decoration method is chosen to match the substrate, which is why the mark is permanent rather than printed on top of it. Standard imprint area on this item is 4 in x 4 in.

Sand Carving

Abrasive is blasted through a cut mask to cut into the surface of the glass or crystal. A deep, frosted, dimensional mark you can feel with a fingertip.

Best for

Crystal and glass awards where depth and presence matter more than color.

Color

Frosted white, optionally color-filled.

Laser Engraving

A focused laser removes the surface layer to expose the substrate beneath. A permanent, high-contrast, single-color mark with no ink involved.

Best for

Logos, names, dates and fine text. The default choice when the mark has to outlive the campaign.

Color

Single color: the natural color of the material under the surface.

Color Fill

Engraved or carved recesses are filled with pigment. A permanent engraved mark that reads in brand color rather than substrate color.

Best for

Metal and crystal where the logo must be recognisably on-brand.

Color

Matched to Pantone where the recess allows.

Artwork requirements

  • Convert all type to outlines so fonts do not substitute in production.
  • A 300 dpi raster at the actual imprint dimensions will run cleanly. Anything pulled from a web page usually will not.
  • A digital proof comes back to you first, every time. Production starts on your written approval and not before.
  • Vector files are the safe option. They hold their edges whether the mark runs at an inch or a foot.
  • If the logo is only available as a bitmap, we need it at 300 dpi or better at final size, ideally on a transparent background.
  • Do not spend a week hunting for the perfect file. Send what exists and we will tell you what is usable.

Where this works best

The same item lands differently depending on who gets it and why. Here is how this one performs across the programs it sells into most.

1

Technology, SaaS & Startups

Distributed teams have no office to carry the culture, so the objects have to. Shipping is the hidden cost and the hidden failure. An item that arrives damaged or takes three weeks to reach a remote hire does the opposite of what it was bought for, so pack weight and carrier reliability belong in the specification. A centrepiece, not a run. Expect it on display for a decade.

2

Employee Recognition & Service Awards

Recognition fails when the object does not match the words. Consistency is what makes a recognition program credible. If a ten year award looks better this year than it did last year, everyone who got last year's version notices. Lock the specification and the supplier, and treat the item list as something you change deliberately rather than annually. Minimum order is a single piece, which suits how this segment tends to buy. The piece the room looks at. Price it as an event cost, not merchandise.

3

Financial Services, Insurance & Legal

Professional services sell trust, and the gift has to look like the invoice. Understated materials, restrained decoration and genuine quality all read as competence. Anything that looks cheap actively undermines the positioning, so this segment skews toward crystal, leather and solid desk pieces. Crystal is the accepted visual shorthand for "this one mattered", and that is why it remains the default for flagship recognition. This is the one people stand next to in the photograph.

4

Corporate Gifting & Client Appreciation

Client gifting has one job: to be kept. Timing beats budget in this segment. The same gift sent a week after a renewal lands completely differently from one sent in December with four hundred others, because in January it is the only thing on the desk. Buy for the calendar you control rather than the one everybody shares. Sand carving produces the deepest, most tactile mark. Laser engraving is faster and better suited to fine text and small logos. Reserved for a milestone big enough to justify the line item on its own.

5

Government, Military & First Responders

This segment is precise about protocol and unforgiving about quality. Protocol governs the object. Placement of insignia, order of precedence on a plaque and the wording of a commendation are conventions rather than preferences, and getting them wrong is the one error this segment does not overlook. The crystal award format earns its place here on keep-rate rather than headline price. At $230.00 before breaks this is a once-a-year piece.

6

Nonprofit & Fundraising

Every pound spent on a donor gift is a pound not spent on the mission, so the gift has to earn it. Recognition pieces for major donors and board members are the clearest win: they are relatively few, they are highly personal, and they materially affect renewal. For event merchandise, price the item to sell rather than to give. Flagship recognition. One or two of these, not a programme.

What do buyers ask about CRY2003L?

What if the artwork does not fit the imprint area?

The personalization area on CRY2003L is 4 in x 4 in. If your mark does not sit well in that shape we redraw or re-proportion it and show you the result on the proof before anything is produced. Engraving is charged on the share of the area your artwork covers, so a smaller mark costs less.

What artwork do you need from me?

Send vector if it exists, raster at 300 dpi if it does not, and whatever you have if neither. The personalization area on CRY2003L is 4 in x 4 in, and we redraw or re-proportion anything that will not survive it. A free digital proof comes back within one business day of usable artwork, and nothing is produced until you approve it in writing.

Can I get a sample before committing?

Yes: order one piece. CRY2003L sells from a single unit at $230.00, the first rung of its published ladder, so a sample is simply a normal order. A decorated single piece goes through the same proof as a full run.

Can I order more later and have them match?

Re-orders reproduce rather than reinterpret. We keep the approved artwork on file against the item number, so a re-order runs from the same file. On natural materials the base itself can shift a little between batches, so tell us if an exact match matters. Standard production is 3 to 5 business days after proof approval, then 1 to 5 business days of ground transit.

How long does production take?

Door to door at standard speed: a day for the proof, 3 to 5 business days in production, then 1 to 5 business days in transit. A rush is quoted per job, with the date confirmed in writing before you pay.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

Tell us within 10 days of delivery and we replace it. Note any damage on the freight bill before you sign for it, because that is what the carrier claim turns on. Resolving it with the carrier is our job, not yours. The replacement runs from the artwork you already approved, so it matches the rest of the order.

Is there a setup charge?

There is no setup charge, ever. Art preparation, machine setup and the proof are part of the price on this page. Engraving is a separate line, shown per quantity in the cost table on this page, so the all-in figure is visible before checkout. Ground freight is free on orders over $250.

What is the minimum order for CRY2003L?

There is no minimum beyond one piece on CRY2003L. Price breaks on this item fall at 1-11, 12-23, 24-47, 48-95, 96-249, 250-499, 500+. The price per piece only goes down as the quantity rises. The published ladder on CRY2003L runs from $230.00 a piece at 1-11 down to $142.60 at 500+, about 38% less per piece.
